Gosport Boat Yard is situated in Harbour Road, it was purchased in 1973 by Chris Haddock from the late Bob & Betty Winter, who ran the local chandlery Solent Marine services. We are possibly one of the oldest private ownership yards in the harbour.

A short time later we acquired a mobile crane which has been changed and up-graded several times. Recently, we purchased a larger Demag 100-ton crane with extended jib length. This has enabled us to lift larger vessels and also, with our new spreader beams, much larger catamarans.

We can accommodate approximately 120 boats ashore during the winter, ranging from 20-ft vessels to 45-ft. We are usually extremely busy in the Spring with many boats coming ashore for a quick ‘spruce up’ – for anti-fouling, anodes and topside cleaning & polishing. One of our painters or shipwrights can do this, or we encourage owner maintenance. Also – mainly for owner maintenance – we have a unique ‘bottoms up’ offer to come ashore for the weekend only. We lift out vessels on a Friday, including scrubbing them off and leaving them ashore for you to work on during the weekend, then relaunch on a Monday morning. This very popular service is often booked up several weeks in advance; it is available all year round.
